Smoky wiring! On Turning over (no earth?)

I have recently replaced my dash with a new aluminium kit as mine had seen better days. Took hours! Carefully labelled every wire when taking it apart. All back together and looks stunning! Problem.... When I went to start it, turned over as lively as ever (not stated for several weeks) so took a fe...

Series 1 aluminium centre dash replacement

Recently bought the aluminium kit from sgn Barrett and to be honest is a very good replacement, however! It has become evident that I may not have the original centre dash. When I bought the car someone had covered the aluminium in black vinyl, horrible! So I removed it to find 1000's of scratches e...

Electrical fault, heating up earth wire with no ignition on?

Recently used the car, all ok, parked up and left for a few weeks, went to start at the weekend and it came across as though it had a flat battery, engine turned and just died off, tested battery and tried another battery, batteries all good. Car won't turn, checked all the wiring and found a few su...

As for D-type replica, I assume it's a Realm rather than one of those square-frame Triumph jobbies? Contact me if you want any bits as I have various stuff for those if you're short of anything and I won't need any of it for my Zealia D Pete Hi Pete, its an aluminium Proteus, just off for painting ...

Thanks Peter, actually helping a friend build a replica ali Dtype at present and looking at his engine today it is very similar but numbers show its out of a mk10. The sump is smooth and a different shape to my etype, but i hear a lot of etype's have mk10 and stype engines in as ive been told they a...

Smooth and ribbed sumps??

Curious to why some etype's have a smooth sump and some ribbed? Are some earlier than others? mines a 3.8 with a ribbed sump, assuming aluminium.

Many thanks

Radio console removal

It looks simple enough but after taking a few panels away I can't get the radio console away. Any others removed it successfully, I'm trying to check a speaker connection etc

I can't get it past the gear surround... Given up tonight

This is the reply from Bilt-Hamber.... Surfex-HD will help to remove the old underseal, especially when used with a pressure washer and hot water, however you will still need to use some mechanical means and also some type of solvent for example white spirit, cellulose thinners, or some kind of pane...

Wheel arch clean and protect

Looking for solutions to clean and protect rear arches. Recently picked up a 62 FHC and it has very old flaky under seal in places, I have removed most of it to bare metal, (some surface rust) so need to convert rust and protect, wheat have others done? I would like to stone chip paint but would lik...

New member - 1962 FHC

Just to say Hi, recently bought a 1962 FHC, currently white but was originally opalescent silver blue. It is my intention to put it back to the colour but will be using the car for at least a year before I look at this.

From the Dorset area any others here?
