Are you sure that the three connecting rods can move their rose joints easily? on my car, one of the rods was tight, adjusting it resolved the issue you are facing.

Re: Electronic ignition kit off ebay
I have one of these distributors, I ran it for a while without any issues until I changed to a 123, I carry the Powerspark as a spare. I swapped the Powerspark out as I wasn't happy with the quality of the unit, it didn't let me down though.

Re: Head in hands
Might be worth speaking with Crosthwaite and Gardiner, they sell a couple of D type threaded core plugs, they might be the right size.

Re: Julian Barratt
I bought the SNGB Handbrake Compensator a couple of years back, the clevis pin holes weren't remotely sized correctly. After a very quick exchange of emails with Julian, my mechanism was modified and the design changed appropriately. I think Julian is a credit to his industry, we are all a lot bette...

Re: Changing the MOT rules on historic vehicles.
I also agree, setting us up as a special case makes it far easier to ban us off the road at some point, or mandate a tiny mileage allowance with the expectation that we would trailer our cars to show. I would far rather pay my way and maintain full rights for my car.

Re: A127 Alternator Connections
Whilst investigating this, I had come across a post that suggested the euro connector was fine for sub 70amp alternators, in any case, I have wired it up with the B+ to the post and only the WL to the euro connector. It's great to see 14.3 volts, even with a slack belt, I'm also seeing my ignition w...

A127 Alternator Connections
I will be fitting an A127 alternator this week, one question on wiring however. The A127 has a euro connector plug, this gives the warning light and two B+ connections, there is also a B+ post connector. Is there any reason why I cannot route the B+ brown wire to one of the euro plug connectors rath...

Re: Fitting alternator loom - running car
Job done, Angus' definition of easy and mine are slightly different. The new harness fits perfectly, not a spare mm in length though so not the easiest fit.

Fitting alternator loom - running car
Due to some electrical issues and the generally poor state of my original alternator loom, I am looking to replace it. How difficult is it to route the fuse & ignition wiring inside a car that is fully assembled?

Re: S2 wipers & screen wash
I checked the Earth by the washer bottle today, when I run a test lead from there to a known good Earth, the test light comes on, the wipers are turned off, something is certainly screwed up somewhere!

S2 wipers & screen wash
I turned my wipers on today, they went to vertical position and then stopped. My screen wash stopped at the same time, they share the same fuse, other things connected to the fuse work fine, I've checked the wiring at the fuse end, all looks good. I suspect this might be an earth issue, where should...

I managed to fit the overly large foam mat from SNGB on my car, it wasn't easy however and I was tempted to cut half of it away before I finally managed to get the cover on.

The only change I made was to take the ballast resistor out, the black wire runs to the negative.AshM wrote:Thanks for response Ian.

I was very interested in Paul's post as I am just about to fit one myself this weekend. Am trying to get clarity on the resolution of the Tach problem that I am expecting to encounter. The post that David kindly added has an entry that includes the following; "Wiring the unit as per added installat...

Sorry Ian, I have been away, and not able to respond to your comment about Ashton Preston Garages. That was the company name, and was part of the Loxhams Group. Well known in the Preston area. It traded as Jaguar House and was situated on Blackpool Road in Ashton, Preston. The site has been rebuilt...
