Re: Replacing the rubber A post door seals

I keep a stock of old bank/id/credit cards for jobs like this. You can use them for a variety of tasks where a non scratch or flexible tool is needed. They're free too. I like that 😊

Re: S3 speakers

Try a general search on Google or ebay. There's a number of speaker grills available that look very similar to the ones you want. They're cheap too.

Re: Exhaust lengths

The rear 2 of the 4 holes in the boot floor are for the S3 rear exhaust mount. There's a stiffened plate spot welded above them. My floor had rusted betweenthese 2 pieces. I welded a new piece in and made it extendinto the stiffen to make the exhaustbolt fit better. The small holes along the bottom ...

Re: Dissolving rust on fresh air vent inlets

Have you tried electrolytic rust removal? I've not used it myself but it comes highly recommended on other forums.

Re: GPK 93J owner

Thanks, I've read that post. In fact, I started it.
After much searching, I've got, what I'm told, is an E Type towbar. A look at a car that's got/had one would help me understand the instalation.

GPK 93J owner

Does anyone know where this car is? It's a red, S2 FHC. An Internet search produced a picture of this car pulling a small caravan. As I'm trying to fit a towbar to my car, I would like to see one in use or, if it's removed, where it used to mount.

They are behind the seats on my 2+2. Possibly the soft tops are different.

Re: Zenith Stromberg 175 CD-2SE

According to AI, your rod should be 1 7/8" or 47.6mm. The one on the left looks like a SU damper.

Re: Two pump brake pedal

A sticking brake pad or caliper piston? The first push flexes the disc to meet the non moving pad.

Re: Do I have an oil pressure issue

You could try an Accusump. It stores oil under pressure and releases it into the engine on startup. I've never used one but the theory is good and folks who have them support that. They're probably a good idea especially on engines that sit for a long time.

Re: Stripped sump plug thread

This is a bit late but a common repair for this in the 70's was to screw in a taper BSP plug with ptfe tape. I've never gone that route myself having needed to. That guarantees my sump plug will strip at the next oil change.

Re: Distorted sump

Well since no one else has replied here's my 2P worth. You say the problem area is 3mm high. Is that measured at the edge of the sump? If so, 3mm there = 1.5mm in the middle. That's still not acceptable of course. Is the oil cooler the original one? Have you put a straight edge across the sump? I'm ...
