Re: Water in Air Intake Box

Thanks Jerome

I've taken the breather pipe off and can't see a hole in it. It's not painted so if there was a hole it should be easy to spot. Should I drill a hole and if so, is close to the inlet plenum the best place?

Water in Air Intake Box

Hi All

I took my Air Intake box off today to change the air filter and found some water in the box. Not a huge amount, probably a teaspoon or two. Should I be concerned?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Advice on rustproofing treatment please?

Hi Steve

I still can't see them. There are also some other images that I can't see - David's (Heuer) for example.

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

Many thanks Steve and Chris. Its certainly very helpful and reassuring for an inexperienced owner like me to have confirmation that I'm not missing something obvious.

I'll go for the more straightforward method and hopefully manage to avoid introducing any air into the system.

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

Thanks Steve I wasn't sure whether I would need to bleed the brakes as David / Angus had suggested in an earlier post that this wasn't necessary: Angus assured me I could simply empty the bottles, remove the hoses, refill and wait for the air bubbles to plop out - no need to bleed the system - and s...

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

Hi All

Could someone please give me a step by step guide to replacing the brake and clutch low pressure hoses on my S2 FHC as they are sweating profusely! I have taken David's advice and ordered Cohline hose.

Not sure if I will need to bleed the brakes as part of the process.

Thanks

Re: Heat Shrink

You're right Mark, I am getting the two mixed up. So, I want to replace the copious amounts of insulating tape that a P.O. has used on various wires following the same path e.g. running between the two brake fluid indicator switches. It would seem from what you are suggesting that loom tape is the b...

Re: Heat Shrink

Thanks all. I have ordered some looming tape which I'm sure will be a great improvement on the insulating tape that's everywhere at the moment!

Many thanks for the link Brian. Looks like an excellent source for all things auto electrical!

Re: Heat Shrink

Thanks Guys that's very helpful.

Presumably I can get longer lengths of the heat shrink or is it a case of using multiple shorter lengths to cover longer lengths of exposed wire?

Heat Shrink

Not related to the current fabulous weather but rather the need to replace a PO's efforts of wrapping various wires in copious amounts of insulating tape! I have in mind removing the tape and replacing with heat shrink tubing and wondered if anyone has any experience and recommendations that they ca...

Re: Engine cut out - advice please

A quick update on my engine cutting out and low voltage problem. It turns out that the regulator had failed which is why the battery wasnt charging. The regulator has now been replaced and the voltmeter is back to reading 14 volts and there has been no repeat of the engine cutting out during the 50 ...

Re: Engine cut out - advice please

Well spotted Steve. I have no idea why the vacuum advance is not connected and it probably hasn't been since the distributor was installed by a P.O. in 2004. Any idea why it wouldn't have been connected and can you advise what difference it will make if it is now connected? The engine has always run...

Re: Engine cut out - advice please

Thanks all for your thoughts and advice. As I said, I dont know much about electrics as you can probably tell from my earlier comments! I'm not sure about what type of electronic ignition I have and all I can go on is a 2004 invoice addressed to a previous owner stating 'replacement distributor with...

Re: Engine cut out - advice please

Thanks Malcolm and Julian I've checked all the connections as you suggested and they seem ok. I'll try replacing the condenser but the HT leads and caps were new last year and I have electronic ignition. I'm wondering if the problem might be the regulator as the volts were reading low the whole time...

Engine cut out - advice please

Hi All Took the etype out yesterday for a 25 mile drive to a local auto jumble and shortly after leaving home the engine suddenly cut out completely for a second or two and then restarted itself. This happened a couple of times before I was able to pull over and lift the bonnet to see if there was a...

Hi David

I can see images 1 and 4 but not 2 and 3 on my Samsung tablet.

You may recall that we corresponded sometime ago about this issue.

Many thanks for your efforts to resolve the problem.
