Re: Rear shock length 64 fhc

I believe shock length is the answer Rear ride height with standard shocks is a function of spring strength. All shock length affects is the maximum droop on your suspension with the car in the air. So yes, they may affect your ability to remove larger tyre/rim combinations. But it doesn't affect r...

Twyford Moors on Facebook.

Interesting pictures, although their 5 speed offering is a Toyota Supra box. I have one in my Mk2. Sure, it's got 5 gears but it's not a particularly nice box.

The T5 box in my roadster on the other hand is quite nice.

I'll see if I can weigh it too.

Trim anticlimax.

When I finished the resto on my 3.8 coupe I got the windscreen guys to install the chrome trim. Now the top chrome was a bit manky; I didn't get it rechromed as I'd had problems with the chromers distorting them. So I bought some new chromes, but I've been putting off fitting them for a couple of ye...

Re: 62 s1 3.8 fuel pump

There's no reason you couldn't fit an AZX1308 SU pump like the one in a 4.2 if you preferred. Note that they are polarity sensitive. They are rubber mounted to a bracket that is welded to the inside of the right rear wheel arch, under the trim panel in the boot. The only problem you might face is fi...

Has a done done this already.

Yes this is what I did when I fitted Coopercraft front calipers to my first E Type years ago. Moving the fronts to the rear maintained the brake bias at stock.

To be honest though I really couldn't feel any difference with the braking for day to day driving.

I can't see that at all working.
It does. You just put the 2 1/8" cylinders on the rear caliper body.

The oil hole is there; it's just tiny.

That does look like the junk one. I think Rob Beere had stock of the good ones.

it's just that the jets are so far off the recommended base setting
The base setting is just that. A starting point.

Jets at 110 thou, while maybe a little low, aren't completely out of the ballpark.

The only way you can be sure is to measure your exhaust.

Re: Su jet height

What you describe is how all my cars are. Need choke until temp is about 70C.

I suspect your car is fine.

If you're not happy get a CO meter and measure your exhaust CO. Should be 4 to 5% at idle.

Re: Rear oil seal, again

The somewhat confusing term "conversion gasket set" refers to a complete gasket set for rebuilding the bottom end of a motor. So it doesn't refer to any conversion in your motor. This is opposed to a "Valve Regrind Set" (aka VRS) which contains all the gaskets for the cylinder head. The old seals we...
