Re: Correct Oil for freshly rebuilt gearbox
Castrol Hypoy (EP90) is the Jaguar recommended. I use Millers Oil NanoDrive CRX 75W90 NT+ Alternatives are (amongst others) Mobil One ATF 320 Royal Purple Synchromax Redline MTF (MT-90 75W90 GL-4) Do not use conventional 80w-90w gear oil. I'd advise changing after running in for 500 miles if it is f...

Re: Speed limit Autobahn
I gave the eType a good run between Stuttgart and Munich 2 days before Christmas. 206 km/h according to GPS. I'm sure it had a bit more to give but my throttles aren't opening fully at the moment. Maintained between 190 and 200 for quite some distance as the road was relatively clear. Overtook a BMW...

Re: Hallo from Germany
where near Stuttgart specialises in eTypes? Would be useful to know, for emergencies for me, or also people on continental trips. That might be worth a sticky thread or KB article. Steve/David?

The first one goes to a lucas tab attached to the bulkead, pretty much directly behind the rev counter.
I changed this to an ring, as the tab can come off.

Re: Buying MWS wheels
I originally had Daytons on mine 15x5 supplied by SNG. There were problems with them not being true. SNG eventually swapped them, but the replacements were also not good. Later it was found one had damage to the interior edge causing the issues. They were replaced with MWS who removed the Daytons, f...

Yes, 205/70 R15. and bump stops in place. While not a factor for many people, I have experienced very low wear with these tyres.

I run the 15x5 MWS wheels, with Vredstein 205 tyres. Very happy with the whole setup.

Re: Fuel gauge sender gasket leak
Cork is not affected by ethanol. I had a rubber/neoprene one fitted and it disintegrated within 6 months spewing fuel out all over the boot and dripping out by the hot exhausts. This was despite assurances that it was "ethanol rated" Take the cork one and a bit of blue hylomar! As copper is a soft m...

Re: Front right indicator dead / help needed
next one comes in, up the footwell to the connectors under the dash on the left.
Here it will connect to the rear loom, dash loom and indicator stalk.
There should be a couple of double bullet connectors to allow the branching and the signal to be carried forwards and to the rear.

Re: Front right indicator dead / help needed
Test if you are getting 12v on the signal wire at the light. If you are, it will be the bulb holder or a bad earth.
If not. trace back slowly at each connector along the path. connector block, bonnet connector M, bonnet connector F, etc. etc.

I'm not sure how much of the IRS can be used from the 420G on the eType, but it is also worth looking at.

Re: Electrical scheme
check the switch for the lights, high beam and the bullet connectors for blue-yellow and blue-white cables in that area. you will eventually find where the 12v is getting stuck.

You need the rear lights from a Lotus Elan. A straight swap I believe.

Re: Series II E type 4.2 Under dash harness connections
It is the green red and green white connectors that are the left and right flashers. If the rears are flashing correctly, but the front is wrong, it is most likely crossed over on the bonnet connector, the 10way block behind the bonnet connector in the bonnet or the feed to the bonnet connector from...

Re: Dashboard wiring loom - should I?
a small polishing attachment on a dremmel cleans up the fuse holders absolutely fine. squeeze the prongs a little that holds the fuse so it is tight again and I use a touch of dielectric grease on all terminals, switches, spades, bullets etc when connecting them up.

both are really great. I've also got a black set and the D-Type rims. I agree with Steve, the spinners need to be different. Had the same thought with mine.
