Re: Headlight bowls fitment

Bought my complete S1 lamp and bowl kits from Holden. Ref 59309 Still listed on their site. Been 2 hours trying to figure it out. Thanks for the post Mine are at 9 oclock and 12 o'clock for the adjusters so the seating rim is incorrect and will never fit. I think someone on here said they were a per...

Re: A few quick q's on front suspension settings

Thanks guys. Yes Steve. I saw a few other posts and will settle (?) on getting the floor and sills level with the garage floor and then making front castor changes. I have the car sitting about right and on turntables at the front. Rear Camber? Spent so much time on the front suspension I forgot abo...

Re: A few quick q's on front suspension settings

Thanks David, I may drop out another shim. Only an hours works and last chance before the mud shields go back on. castor is about 2 degrees so happy with that. Rear tool was to set the rear of the car at mid level to match the front and set the castor but I found a thread that says the sills should ...

A few quick q's on front suspension settings

I have the suspension setting tools fixing the front suspension in the mid laden position. 1. Camber comes up as +1/2 degree both sides. Worth removing one more shim? 2. Should I tighten the rubber bushes in the mid laden position as they are now or just on normal ride height? 3. Can you buy a rear ...

No screw. Hmm. Looks welded. Other threads say its brazed on.

Guess its staying and I'll blast and paint it in situ.

Re: Instrument rims

+1 for sanding, priming and painting the rims. Done it on 2 cars now.
Glass (just in case) and rubber seals from e-bay and only a few quid.
I bought a make up face powder brush to lightly brush the dust off the faces.

Brake bleed Screws

Hi, The bleed screws that came out of my 67 S1 are standard tapered. Is there any advantage replacing with the ones with the ball bearing. I have never seen or used them before. Do they act as a kind of one way valve? I was going to opt for the Goodridge speed bleeders but they are not cheap. Thx Ed...

Bolting up Metalastic Bushes. Dry Shafts or what?

Hi, Quick question Rubber bushes fitted and ready to go on the top and bottom A-Arm shafts. Preference? 1. Leave the shafts dry 2. Small amount of anti-sieze (copperslip) to stop shafts rusting (but bushes could spin on the shaft) 3. Clear coat (I have POR15 clear coat spray) to stop rusting. Any th...

Removing steering Rack

Hi, Ideally at some point I want to remove the picture frame and bonnet frame and also polish the ally steering housing in the engine bay. Could anyone please let me know how to remove the steering shaft from the UJ splines in the footwell and rack and re-install in the same position? Do you mark th...

Re: Radiator fan didn’t come on

Many thanks for this thread.
Great tip to take the relay "+" feed from the fan supply.
I was going to run the "+" feed from the coil

btw cheapest prices for the Lucas relays (one advantage of having a Commando). Andover Norton supply them for Mk3's.

Thanks. I'll pull the oil filler cap and check for that too. I did pull the distributor so good to check its not 180 out.

Sense check on timing marks for electronic ignition

Hi, Just a quick sense check on fitting electronic ignition (Luminition) to my '67 4.2 engine: Crank timing marks aligned for No. 6 cylinder (nearest radiator) and rotor arm aimed at front left of the car (when standing facing the engine). Checking for spark at the marks for 10 degrees btdc static t...

Re: Lucas 11ACR Rebuild parts

Thanks all for the information. Really helpful and covers all of the options. My 11ACR has the early W shaped pulley so not sure if its a straight swap on the newer alternators. I guess there is also some fabrication required to fit the later alternator lugs to the early bracket. Sounds like I defin...

Re: Lucas 11ACR Rebuild parts

Many thanks, Thought I was just going to whip off the alternator to degrease the block... Original V reliable always a tough choice. I'll probably get it repaired and live with it till it lets me down. Thanks for the tip on the Ford version, if you have any info on brackets and fitting S1 4.1 pulley...

Lucas 11ACR Rebuild parts

Hi, 67 S1 Thought I would remove the alternator but the threaded terminal and nut is completely corroded to the attaching wire. I had a quick google but can only see brushes advertised. Any suppliers for whatever the threaded part is attached to? Looks like its toast. Thx Eddie https://i.postimg.cc/...

Thanks Bob. makes sense. Just wanted to confirm.
Oh well, removing the complete exhaust is good practice for when I drop out the rear subframe!

Wish I was back working on the Mustang.
