What goes through this grommet ?

There is a grommet on the back of the RH air cleaner box that has a hole through it (C17432).

Should there be a breather pipe or something going through it please? I've looked on the parts pictures but they don't help.

Cheers
Richard

Air cleaners and trumpet finish?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the finish should be on the trumpets and air cleaner box on a V12 please? Is it just silver paint or is it enamelled?

Thanks
Richard

Stuck on a new standard sender and the oil pressure is fine, about 60-70 psi hot or cold

Jaguar spares do a kit for ?135 + vat.

Tempting but quite a bit more than a regular sender. Think I'll stick with the standard one for now and if I continue to have problems I'll invest in a mechanical one.

Oil pressure sender - Jag or is there an alternative

Hi, The oil pressure sender is playing up on my car. It was showing decent oil pressure on startup but I noticed that it had dropped to next to nothing when it was warm. Then it would show 40.... So I took it off and sprayed some carb cleaner in it and now it isn't showing any oil pressure at all. T...

My Reopus arrived and is now fitted. I did get stung for ?35 worth of import tax. The car fired up straight away and I have a much stronger spark now. I then followed the workshop manual for balancing the carbs and it's running nicely now. Still haven't driven it as now need to replace the clutch ma...

Problem with the Shutz stuff is that water can still get in and chase underneath it so you can't see the rush forming. And it looks rubbish!

I'd treat any rust first with a converter and then waxoyl it.

Just to let you know, I went with the wire tip. I have a mig welder so chased out some wire and tacked it on the end. It was then just a case of feeding it through.

Easy!

I have left the wire on for the next time I might need it. :D

Even though they look ok I'm just wondering if it is worth replacing the cap, rotor arm, leads and coil anway just so I'll know I'm starting with a fresh ignition set up? I have a Reopus H on order so that will arrive next week hopefully. The car is being a bit wierd, there is no spark, then the nex...

Did you ever find out what the problem was? My 72 V12 S3 e-type UK car hasn't been used for about 10 years. I can get it to start and tick over on the choke but if I try and rev it up it will die. Sometimes it won't start at all, just turns over but if I fiddle with the wiring between the lucas box ...

Thank you everyone.

Yes, attaching the cable before finally bolting the IRS in is the way to go if only I knew that in advance...

Attaching some wire to it sounds like it would work so I'll try that first.

Tips for getting the handbrake clevis pin back in please !!

Hi All, I've put the IRS back in my car and it's all bolted up. All went well except when it has come to putting the clevis pin back in to reconnect the handbrake cable. There is no way I can get my hand over the top to push the pin down. I can push it in from the bottom but then how do you get the ...

Cheers chaps But can I just check the size you have quoted as the ones that came out were about 1 1/2 " I think if they are much longer then there wouldn't be the clearence to remove them. Just to be clear they are the boldts that hold the mounting to the cage, not the ones that hold the mount to th...

Rear suspension cage mounting bolts size?

Hi,

I took the rear cage off my S3 last night and the 8 bolts holding it on are a bit rough so I'd like to replace them.

I can seem to find them on the PDFs in the knowledge base so can anyone tell me what size I need please?

Thanks

Clutch and exhaust questions V12 2+2

I've started playing around with my new car, trying to get it up and running after it's near 10 year layup and whilst I do have it running I have a couple of issues/question please. 1. The clutch isn't disengaging, when the pedal is pressed the slave cylinder seems ok and is pushing the arm into the...
