Re: oil dipstick
Just changed the oil/filter today on my 3.8. (block is original and correct dipstick) Carefully measured each litre added and noted dipstick reading ( after 5 litres). 8.5 litres added and level was 2/3rds up the 'hatching', started engine to fill filter , switched off and allowed to settle. Oil lev...

Re: Wheel size
Currently running 5.5 " competition ,silver painted wires on rear and 5" standard wires on front. Tyres are 6.00 x 15 Dunlop Racing R5s. Give a very 'full arch ' look as per 4 WPD and Graham Hill (he probably had 6.50" on rear). Not strictly road legal and tramline quite a lot but lovely turn in and...

Diff. input oil seal change
1964 3.8 S1 FHC
Is the diff input oil seal change relatively simple on the 3.8? ( 'just' remove nut, washer and companion flange and change seal and gasket)- don't think there is a crush tube etc as fitted to later diffs?
Thanks

Spinners revisited
Hi.
Lockdown tedium saw me messing about with old spinners and an electronic balance! (all look to be 'original')
5 off- weights- 837g,873g,915g,932g and 941g! .........fair old spread!

Re: Dellorto Conversion kit
Just measure the inner and outer cable lengths and get it made up or send it to Venhills and get an exact copy made with adjusters etc.

Re: 3.8 E diff input seal
Thanks folks for the info. So , if I decide to replace the input seal I should get away with marking the nut and shaft!

3.8 E diff input seal
Hi,
If I replace the input seal on my 3.8 diff. does the pre-load need checked/rest on the crownwheel? Is there a crush tube on a 3.8-parts book doesn't show one , did the crush tube come in with the 4.2?
Thanks, D

Re: Upgrade to E type forum
Thanks for prompt, satisfying, response David. I did think to myself that it probably didn't matter for the very reasons you say i.e. no card details, addresses etc. but thought I'd ask.
Thanks again, D

Rory,
Those were exactly what I looked at!.......don't remember why I kept the original, must have been in reasonable nick (often those soldered gauze affairs on bike fuel taps are in parlous states!).

Re: New to petrol tanks, fitting, filter - advice please ?
A paint spray gun filter was considered when I had the tank etc out many moons ago. They are available in a variety of sizes, white 'nylon' and fit snugly over brass pipe. In the end I used the original type .

Re: Bonnet balance link assy. bolts
1/4" UNF bolts removed. Holes are 5/16". 'Special' shouldered bolt and brass washers fitted to picture frame swivel and 5/16" bolts and brass washers fitted to other two, originally rivetted ,holes. No slop now!
