cant rail curtain

Hi, is the 'curtain' that goes around the headlining on the sides of the roof that is held on place by the rubber tube glued to the steel or just held in place by the cant rail itself ?

Re: Millboard

Thanks Steve, I think scoring is how the fitters at Jaguar did it. Headlining is here still boxed up. I am trying to get the cantrails to fit at the dashboard ends. They were never a good fit, no that's not true, they didn't fit at all since I bought the car in 1997. How are you getting on with your...

Cant rail too tall or trim missing?

Hi, where the cantrail curves under to meet the dash on my series 1 2+2 the bottom of it seems to be about 12mm lower than the bottom of the dash. Is this correct or am I missing a piece of trim? Both sides are the same.

A post Hardura

Hi, I want to trim the A post in my series1 2+2 with black Hardura. I know it should be vinyl but I want Hardura like the earlier FHC and OTS versions. My question is ......... Is there a piece of board under the Hardura or did Jaguar just glue it onto the steel ?

Roof mounted radio aerial

My series 1 2+2 has had a roof mounted aerial since long before I bought it in 1997. It is only now that I am getting around to fitting a new headlining that I realise how messy and out of place the mounting on the inside of the car looks. I am tempted to weld the hole and mount the aerial elsewhere...

Re: Rossleigh Newcastle 1966

Thanks very much.
I now need to look for an advert from August /September 1966 which will hopefully list a light blue 2+2 for sale.

Millboard

Series 1 2+2. Hi, I have some 2.5mm millboard to make the pieces of trim that run from the rear window down the side of the car into the boot area. Any thoughts about which side ( black or grey) I should have against the bodywork and which side to glue the foam and vinyl onto? When I removed the ori...

Re: Rossleigh Newcastle 1966

Hi Richard, yes it is he same dealer but about 40 years too early.
I have scoured several sources to see if I can find an advert of around September 1966 but no joy.
The registration archives are held by the Kithead Trust but only go up to 1949.

Re: Series 1 2+2 Headlining Question

Hi, how did you get on installing your headlining? I am about to do mine. Did you use the the two toothed items that go either side of the interior light ? I have just bought a pair from Hutsons but if they are not needed I wont fit them

headlining glue removal

Hi, does anyone have a recommendation for removing the original glue that held the headlining to the roof?
I've tried a couple of spray on removers and even cellulose thinners but it doesn't want to come off the roof

Re: cantrail fixed before the seal channels?

Thanks Jonathan that's how I am doing it but I've read somewhere recently that it is done the other way round. Just glad to know I don't have to take the seal channels off .

Re: No vacuum ?

I have vacuum in all the right places. There are no leaks and the check valve is working as it should. When I depress the pedal with the engine running the rear section of the servo changes from vacuum to atmospheric. So all seems good. I wonder why when I depress the pedal and start the engine the ...

Series 1 2+2. Hi does anyone have a photo of the trim that covers the wiring on the LHS bulkhead fitted please? Part number BD 29152. Rossleigh Newcastle 1966

Bit of a long shot but I wondered if any members have a 'photo or newspaper advert for the Newcastle on Tyne Dealer in September ish of 1966. I am trying to put together the history of my car. I know it was sold by Rossleigh in September 1966. I have tried the newspaper archives for that period and ...

Re: accelerator control rod length

Hi Paul
On my 66 2+2 C17867 ( vertical one) is 5,3/4 inches long and C17868 ( horizontal one ) is 10,1/2 inches long. These are overall dimensions not joint to joint.
Hope this helps

Re: No vacuum ?

Hi , yes when the engine is running I have vacuum to both sides of the servo. When the brake pedal is pressed the vacuum is lost from the rear portion of the servo.
