Series 1 2+2, how many manual ones built ?

Hi, the XKE data site says that there were 973 series 1 2+2s built.
Does anyone know how many were manual ( like mine) ?
Is it possible to get even more specific and find out how many manual cars had wire wheels or is that going too far?

Re: When the factory built them...............

The yellow car at the front has 51312 on the parts bin that is attached to it. If this is the BODY number then this matches chassis 1E 50188 BW. That car is on XKE data as having been built 22 June 1966 and exported to Singapore. That should help date the picture to mid June 1966. My 2+2 was built o...

Re: When the factory built them...............

Am I correct in thinking that the only model with a separate door lock is the series 1, 2+2 like mine?
If so at least 2 cars behind the yellow one are 2+2s. If I am correct, the chrome trim on the top of the outside of the doors is not fitted and there don't appear to be any holes for it.

Re: When the factory built them...............

Yes its this picture that got me wondering and asking the question. You would have thought a separate line for each model so that all the parts delivered to each position on the line would fit the cars on that line. Having the cars mixed up as it were means that you either have to have the parts for...

When the factory built them...............

When the factory built our cars did they do so on one production line or separate lines for each model variant ?
I think it would have been separate lines for each.

Aluminium panel in the boot

Hi, series 1 2+2. I believe that there is supposed to be a piece of aluminium that goes along the back of the boot area. I can see it in the BAS catalogue but not in the Jaguar parts list ?
Thanks

Which Rev counter Series 1 2+2 123 distributor ?

Hi, I have in front of me 3 rev counters that I have accumulated over the last 23 years and would appreciate it if I could find out which would be the best with the 123 distributor that I am now fitting. RV7414/06. This is the correct one for my car but was removed as the generator failed. I do have...

Re: Grass track racing E-types 1989 Lancashire.

Here is another photo from my friend Peter. Sorry about the quality.

Taken from the overbridge at Oulton Park on Saturday 28 September 1969 (or possibly 1968).
Again if anyone owns either of these cars PM me and I will post to you.

Grass track racing E-types 1989 Lancashire.

Hi All , I have found two photos of e types racing on a grass field. They were taken by a friend around 1989 probably in Atherton Lancashire. He tells me that he was on his way to Bolton and heard lots of engines so went to investigate. He believes it was an event organised by a local auto sports cl...

Re: boot board and seat board covering.

Thanks Peter, the existing is a mess so I am going to replace it. I will do it in carpet to match the rest of the car ( If I ever get the welding finished). Not worried about value just want to get it up and running again so I can use it and the carpet is rolled up waiting to be used.

boot board and seat board covering.

Hi my series 1, 2++2 has the boot board and the floor board behind the rear seat trimmed in carpet. It looks a professional job, all edged in vinyl and with the correct runners with rubber inserts. All the trim kits that I have seen and all the factory fit photographs show the covering as vinyl. Any...

8448 TJ

Hi, whilst clearing out my loft and sorting out my Jaguar papers, I found a photograph of 8448 TJ racing at Oulton Park on 28 September 1968. Numbered 119, it is just behind 121( no registration number). The photo was taken by a friend of mine. If either car still exists p[lease PM me and I will sen...

Brake pipe clips

Hi, on the drivers side of my RHD Series 1 2+2 runs the fuel p1pe . It is fastened to the underside with clips with corresponding holes in the chassis. On the other side runs the brake pipe from the brake light switch to the rear of the car, What holds this pipe in place? There are no clips on my ca...
