#1 new member from Italy, and new toy

Post by lemoncino » Mon Mar 13, 2023 7:46 pm

hello everyone, I bought an etype to satisfy my childhood dream, and since I couldn't buy a working model, I bought a car cheap and very ruined (second series 2+2), so I'll know how to pass the time when I'm retired.
I decided to do all the restoration operations myself, including the construction of the sheet metal, at least the ones I'm capable of doing.
I will be grateful to the forum for the help I can get in the various repair and tuning operations of the mechanics, and the information from the most expert; unfortunately I do not know English and I apologize for the translation errors with the online service.
thanks to all

Maurizio, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Ask questions and you will get friendly help. Also searching this forum will find you a lot of useful information. Replacement metal panels are available from various suppliers and if you look on the Restoration Stories you will see examples of how others have done similar work. For example look for the monthly reports by leysau as he has made many new sections and welded them onto the car. Here is his most recent report:

Welcome, I am sure help will be on hand here. Would be nice to see photos of the initial condition of the car you bought.

Welcome Maurizio,

There are a few Italy-based members here. I have a house near Stresa on the west side of Lake Maggiore where I intend keeping my E-type when it is complete. Sadly, I do not spend as much time there as I would wish, but that is because of the tiresome fact I must work!

Where are you?

Best wishes

Peter

Hi, thank you all for the welcome and the information. I post some photos of the condition of the car....now it's all disassembled, and the more I remove rust, the more I find....practically I have to replace the whole lower part of the car. I have already purchased the more complicated panels from a famous English manufacturer, and replicated the simpler ones because I have a passion for mechanics and CAD design work, so I have the sheets I design laser cut, and then I bend them with the bender .
For Pietro, I live in Gerenzano, it's not far from Lago Maggiore.
