#1 New Member in California's Sierra Nevada

Post by JaguarBrad » Sun May 26, 2024 5:23 pm

Hello Everyone,
New member from Central California.

I have purchased a partially restored 1961 E-Type FHC LHD from a very reputable Jaguar specialist.
And will complete the restoration myself after the painting from bare-metal.
Imperial Maroon over Biscuit. This completes a life long dream of owning an E-Type.

I am very hands on and enjoy the process.
Was over for the CBR technical with a friend and met several members. Very informative and enjoyable.
We were on the way to the Meeting-South but had issues that forced us to miss it.

Lots of information and experienced members here in the forum.
Will be an invaluable resource putting together a car I didn't take apart!
Regards,
Brad

Brad, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Ask questions and you’ll generally find very helpful answers and advice. Of course in the US you have Jaglovers as another valuable source of help, especially in finding local suppliers whereas many of us are in UK and Europe.

Please post photos of your car and good luck with getting it back on the road. Do you have all the correct maintenance and owners manuals? The technical knowledge section has useful info and pages from the manuals to print off and use in the workshop. But having the hard copy is very important.

Geoff,
Thanks for the welcome.
I am excited to get going but the wait for paint is a good thing.
Using time to revamp the garage.

As to books, I have quite a few.
-Jaguar Service model 3.8 and 4.2
-Original Jaguar E-Type by Porter and another by McKay
-E-Type Originality Guide by Haddock and Mueller
-E-Type Jaguar DIY by Rooke(picked up from club-sale at CBR event!)
-Jaguar E-Type by Wood
-Haynes manual

I will definitely need more information on the SU's.
No experience with these Carburetors. Yet.

Here are pictures of my chassis.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
Brad

Brad, that looks good so far. As for the engines and carbs, don’t be concerned as they are pretty easy to set up. You may wish to get an overhaul kit for the SUs. So long as you follow the manual you should have little to worry about. And, yes, you have a good selection of manuals.
Burlen in the UK produce all the parts for the SUs and SNG Barratt sell them if you don’t go direct.

Search on here for carbs, carburettor, and allow for English versus US spelling in your search. And when you’re ready to overhaul feel at ease to ask questions. You’ll often find a ready list of topics that might answer what you’re looking for as these are related to words in your topic title.

You can always start a restoration thread to show us how you’re progressing.

Good luck
