#1 Opportunity - Drive to France

Post by JulianBarratt » Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:48 am

Hi E-Type Forum Crew..
This is a slightly left-field post, so apologies to the mods if its not suitable but...

I need to get one of the SNG Barratt E-Types down to northern France (Le Mans) from UK before the 12th September 2024. I could arrange someone to transport the car down but I thought there might be a "forumista" who would be interested in a bit of a drive and had the time to spare.

We would cover costs to get there and back as well as reasonable expenses, insurance etc.

Starting point would be in the midlands near to SNG Barratt in Bridgnorth, maybe near a train station so that the driver can get home again.

Its a V12 E-Type Roadster and you would be welcome to take a passenger.

Timings can be a bit flexible but the car has to be in Le Man before the 12th as I am picking up the car from there to go down to Angouleme..

Please DM me if you are interested and I can provide some more details and work out timings...

Ha ha - speeding fines and airfares to/from the USA not included. Thanks to all those who have messaged me on this, much appreciated. I didnt think in advance how I would chose between keen parties so I will probably work on a first come, first served basis...
If anyone else is down at the Circuit Des Ramparts event in Angouleme, do let me know we could to meet up..

That's a great idea! I'm sure there are plenty of forum members who would love the opportunity to drive a classic E-Type and enjoy a road trip to France. I hope you find a suitable driver soon!

Hi Julian,

I saw your post and would LOVE to have given it a go but my other half starts her new job next week so wouldn't be able to get the time off. It would also have made for a cracking article for the E-Type Club magazine!

If you ever need anything like this doing again, please do drop me a message, we would love to help out. As the big 30 approaches next March, insurance may also be a tad easier

Cheers,

Simon

I think you were all pinching yourselves, reading Julian’s post, and checking it wasn’t April 1st.

I'm pinching myself...finding out that Simon is almost 30...where has the last 10plus years gone....he was only a kid helping Richard with his restoration and dreaming of owning an E type one day....now he's got a "other half" ..so no chance now till he retires  ...Steve

Where has the last 10 years gone? No idea, Steve! It doesn't seem that long since I first started going to Club and Forum events. Still no E-type though!

The "other half" in question (Natalie) loved Richard's E-type when he came round to pick me up for this year's High Peak Run. Thanks to a kind offer from one owner, we may end up driving a lovely 3.8 FHC together to next year's run. Watch this space
