I would recommend downloading the relevant parts of the official Parts Catalogue from the forum's Knowledge Base. I think most of the big suppliers base their catalogues on this but often leave out the bits they don't sell.
If you look at the diagram for each assembly you will see nearly all the parts displayed in the correct way and orientation for assembly. Then look at the description for a part and it will tell you if there are any extra bits needed such as shims or washers, listing them in the order used, eg bolt, washer, spring washer, nut.
I found the Parts book the most useful resource when rebuilding my car.
