#1 New owner from Suffolk

Post by GBR392 » Fri Feb 20, 2026 7:52 pm

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Keith Russell, I’m the very proud new owner of series 1 2+2, that I acquired a few months ago. I live near Woodbridge in Suffolk, having moved there a couple of years ago from Kent. I’ve loved all things mechanical and petrol-powered since before I can remember, so despite the various problems that I’ve found with my new toy, it’s still giving me such a grin every time I walk in to the garage.

I’ve previously restored a couple of Midgets, of which I still have one, but the E-type is certainly a step up in complexity from the MG! Having driven it just once, the interior is pretty much now stripped and my plan over the rest of winter and spring (and probably summer) is to replace the wiring loom (which was toast), sort out the fuel system (which was full of crud) and fix at least a few of the other issues that I’ve since discovered.

I’ve had quite an explore of the knowledge base and forum posts and there’s certainly a wealth of knowledge available! I’ll post on the technical forum about some of the issues that I’ve encountered, as I’m already after advice with a couple of problems.

And from my one run out to Orford Quay, before the weather turned last year…

Hello Keith, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Lots of information in the knowledge base and help from so many friendly members. Please add your name to the signature area, click on your user name top right. Add your car type, too. All this means people respond politely and with the correct information for your car..
New wiring harness from autosparks, join the JEC or JDC to get discount on parts from SNG Barratt. (If you buy a wiring harness from them it’ll be made by autosparks.)

If Angus Moss in Letchworth (mossjaguar.com) has his open day this year get yourself there to meet with lots of other owners and learn of new ideas to help you.

Good luck with the work and why not open a topic in the restoration section to show what you are doing.

Hi Keith,

Welcome to the forum, would be good to see some more pics as the restoration proceeds.

I live near Woodbridge and would be happy to catch up, Orford is a good spot and has some nice roads along the way.

Lots of helpful advice on the forum and in the technical section.
