I'm new to this forum but not new to the E type world. I'm been owning E types for the past 20 years. You can find photos of my current car on the following link : http://www.xkedata.com/cars/detail/?car=888570

Kind Regards

Welcome G?rald! Nice car indeed.

What happened to your heater box? It doens't look quite original...did you change the blower and fan?

What is your 5 speed gearbox?

Best regards.

Hello Stephane,

Well observed, the heater box include an uprated fan, heater matrix and best of all an air conditioning system.

I ve fitted a brand new getrag 265 (ex bmw) some 15 years back with the orginal power lock 3.54 axle as the car was imported from the us. And well to me this is the best combination, quick off the line and very good fuel econmy.

I believe that you are French, which part are you coming from?

Best regards
Gerald

Congratulation! Very nice job as the air-conditioning looks very discrete outside and inside the car. Where did you have the job done?
Actually I?m Swiss and I live in Charente not very far from you. By the way if you know a very good E-type mechanic in our region please let me know.

the idea is to have very discrete upgrades and reversible if I ever sale the car. I ve sourced the parts from clayton heater in coventry and fited the system my self with my neighbour who is an air con specialist here in Barcelona.
As we are almost next door neighbours we should meet when I get back to France in April.
Good french E type mechanic? never been able to find one so I do most of the work myself, and when not possible I can get help from a couple friends E types owners as well (English for one of them). The problem with the so called Jaguar specialist in France is that they rarely speak english, don?t have the maintenance manual, so they cannot understand the car... and are very expensive.

I have the rear sump oil seal to change and probably the gearbox seal too so it's an engine out job. Simple task in itself but must be done carefully and according to the procedure. That's why I'm looking for the right mechanic. I would do the job myself but I haven't the proper equipment and help.

In that area of the engine it can be other leaks you must check them first. ie the cams covers the bonjos at the rear of the engine, the rpm pick up.
the rear rope seal always swipe a little. Have you change the engine breather filter in front if not change that first it might solve your problem.
