#1 Hello from a new member

Post by Allan_R » Fri Jan 03, 2014 10:11 am

Hi Everyone

My name is Allan and I?m new to this site and to E Type ownership!

I?m currently importing a 1970 Series 2 Roadster into the UK from the US, hopefully it will arrive early February. I?d be interested in any advice on how to register the car in the UK and was parts I need to change to make it UK road legal and pass the MOT (rear lens change and front lights, anything else?)

I have progressed onto wanting an E type from building a kit car (AC Cobra) so hopefully this will stand me in good stead once I get the car into the UK and I start to see what I need to do to it to get it on the road!

Anyway for now, hello and I look forward to speaking to you all and hopefully meeting some of you at some time.

I?m based in Hinckley Leicestershire, just in case there are any fellow Etype owners close by!

Regards Allan

Hi Allan,

Welcome to the forum and indeed to E-Type ownership.

The gov.uk site is a good starting point.

https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-i ... ed-vehicle

Although I've not used it I believe that since mid 2013 there has been a new system (NOVA) in place which is an online tool for notifying HMRC of the import.

Look forward to seeing photos !

Cheers,

Neil

Hi Allan

Has your car arrived from the US yet? Did you get the information you needed to make it road legal - I am sure I have seen it somewhere on the forum.

Bob

The original post was from 2 years ago Malcolm, I guess the OP isn't using the forum much.
