It's great to see another very active forum arrive on the scene, and that all the E-Types that have gone "back home" are going to good homes. I like to see cars get used as intended.
I've been messing with E-Types since dragging a non-running '65 FHC out of a back yard in 1982. At that time coupes in California were dirt cheap, usually rust-free and worn out mechanically. 1E30036 met all three qualifications. After a proper restoration in 1993, I ran it until its sale in 1998. It was a fantastic car and always got me home. A favorite road trip was the annual 300-mile run to the Monterey Historics.
I messed around with a Big Healey, but the E-Type bug never really leaves us, and I wound up with another tired FHC, 1E32208. I hope to have its restoration finished in time for the E-Type's 50th anniversary in 2011. We'll see...
I enjoy doing most of my own wrenching and, as a machinist, occasionally making that odd part.
Apologies for making this so long, but glad to encounter another great bunch of enthusiasts.

Hi Mark,
A very warm welcome to our little forum. Although we are still rather small, you will find some quite nice and knowing members around here.
If you can, do put some pictures online of your ongoing restoration and I wish you all the best with your project. Like you said, once bitten....
cheers

Thank you, Erik! I recognize some of you from xkedata.com and Mike Powers' Jaguar Links forum over here.
Once I start making some real progress I will begin posting some photos. I am currently working on the mechanical bits so that they'll be completed when I start the body restoration.
Looking forward to some interesting discussions!

Thank you, Phil. I think my chances of finishing by 2011 are pretty good. Having said this, we all know that projects are more easily started than completed. And I'm the poster child for starting projects!
