Thanks for the re-welcome's chaps.

Am going to have a bit of a search before I start asking too many questions, though if anyone's got any bright ideas, am currently swearing at the top nut on the clutch slave cylinder which appears not to want to move.

(slave cylinder is leaking, I have a new one)

Thanks, I have a heat gun, but not anything that makes a flame. Access is a bit tight, but I'll give it a go (tomorrow, have packed in for the day now)

Soaking in diesel , or better still acetone/atf mixture for 24 hours is a good preliminary idea . Heat with a heat gun at 500C is also a good idea

Managed to get it off, and the new one back on.

Bit of a struggle, but this morning I bled the clutch hydraulics and drove the car a bit for the first time. OK, it was only 3 lengths forward and 3 lengths back - but I now have a running driving car. Brakes didn't feel fantastic, but they worked and I havent looked over them yet. (Having functioning brakes is important even at this early stage because my driveway has quite a slope! )

This weekend's mission is to understand what I need to do to de-federalise the lighting.

Hahahah, well, actually it was more 5 and a half - I don't intuitively know the length of the car yet, so I sort of got out and pushed it the last bit back in.

But yes, nothing fell off. Am calling that win.

In terms of collecting ladies - zero. Whilst they are welcome in my garage, there not encouraged. "Donne e motori, gioie e dolori"
