Hi,

As per the below Classic & Sportscar article my name is Dave & I'm based in Bristol UK, I am not sure how my Series 3 2+2 car will be received by the 'established' community as I have received lots of very different responses from 'wonderful' to 'it's a disgrace' so I've so far chosen not to join any E Type Forums so here goes.

This car has allowed me to meet some truly inspirational people such as Petronella Payne (June 2012) & Norman Dewis (June 2012) as it won the 'Wooden Spoon Award' at the 2012 Jaguar Day at Prescott UK which Norman presented to me.

I will post further details in the Series 3 Section as I am keen to assist other members wherever possible with my personal experiences as I have undertaken many of the common upgrades myself since the car 'found me' on Friday 13th 2012 including fitting a 5 Speed XJS Getrag Manual Gearbox, fitting a 2.88 XJS HE Differential, fitting EFi to the original E-Type Engine, fitting an O/D Jaguar Gearbox (as more original) & now temporarily fitting a late XJS 5.3 HE Engine to keep the car on the road whilst I work on the original engine.

I will let the pictures explain some more, apologies if they offend anyone:-

Hi Dave,
:welcomewave: to the forum.
It's an e-type and that is what we are all about, great article and it sounds like you have had some great adventures and development ideas already.
You probably need to get in touch with forum member Marek as he has a highly individual S3 with a fully uprated EFI v12 which is all his own work

Hi Dave
welcome to the forum. For sure your knowledge of the S3 will be very interesting for many of us who are working on their own car.
I ve done the same kind of works on mine with a getrag gearbox and the 2.88 diff coming from an XJS. I ve also an xjs engine. It is now back on the car. I ve to work on the efi looms and equipments.
hope to read and see more soon.
Michel

Hi Michel,

There is a current photo in the Series 3 section taken on last year's road trip to Le Mans via Gibraltar however I have some more if you are interested.

Thanks for the post & interest.

Cheers,

Dave

Apologies I meant to thank Michel for the kind words & comments, if you need any assistance with the EFi just let me know, believe it or not it's not as complicated as it looks!

Also to say to Malcolm there is more detail in the Series 3 section regarding how the car currently looks but for convenience the below was taken on the Road Trip to Gibraltar in September 2016.

The poor stag with its bonnet up in the background  .

Another blow for their reputation (I have one)!

Nice one Dave
I'm by no means an expert here but I do believe IMHO an unrestored classic is a very special car, and are becoming fewer and fewer around

Good point, never really thought about it that way so I guess 'Unrestored Since Barn Find Series 3' would probably be a better description.

The fact it has been restored once certainly does allow me to play with it without the risk of destroying all the heritage but the fact it was done 36 years ago still sort of makes it unrestored (again) I guess?

The key thing for me is using & enjoying it as it is without making ANY modifications that can't be reversed with ease in the future should I or someone else want.

So far I have managed to keep every original component stashed away for when I decide the future fate of the car (whenever that may be).

Cheers,

Dave
