Hello everybody, im Lewis and im new to the forum. Picked up my first E type last week and im totally in love with it! its a 1971 series 3 FHC. Been having a good look around on here and have already learned alot! its fantastic. My first question is regarding the exhaust sytem which i find it a little on the quiet side! Although not an issue, is it possible to beef it up slightly without affecting the back pressure to the point of having to adjust the carburetors? i.e running too lean.If not, is adjusting them to compensate for an exhaust sytem a difficult job?
thanks! Lewis

Hello Lewis!
I can't help you with your questions about your exhaust note or concerns about mixture adjustments but I would suggest that you drive your new e-type and get to know it for maybe year before making a lot of mods.
And, I can congratulate you for your fine acquisition and welcome you to the forum! Have fun!

The E-Type exhaust is easy to modify for more noise - replace the main silencers with straight pipes. The increase in noise is not huge as the resonator/rear box will still work, and the mixture will not be hugely affected. But it will drum in the cabin and be tiresome on long journeys. And long journeys are what the V12 E-Type is all about.
Big bore systems and straight through systems are available. They are noisier and more tiresome on the road. Great for track days and revving up at the lights.
