Hello fellow enthusiasts.

I bought my one in the U.S. in October and have spent every spare hour since rebuilding it mechanically.
Engine, Carbs, auto box, brakes, steering, final drive unit and suspension now all complete and engine running lovely. Very little body corrosion and none at all in the superstructure which was surprising for a car from Minnesota. I don't think it had been running for a few decades, last Jaguar service was at 56k miles and its now on 61k miles, service was performed in 1975!
its a 1966 2+2 finished in Golden sand, I'm hoping to get it MOT'd and registered in the next month or so.
What's the view on painting it as far as originality go's? at the moment its 100% original (Service parts aside).
I've started to buff the roof and the paint is coming back really well but it has some small blemishes on the doors which let it down.
Anyway, it's nice to know there is a wealth of information and advice on here and I'm pleased to be part of it and only too willing to share my experiences with you, I'm 7 years older than my Jag and have been a mechanic (Not Jaguar) since 1978

Hi and welcome to the forum. I've got a series 2 2+2, and love the practicality of it. Paint wise, I wouldn't worry about a change of colour if you want to do a repaint. I would use a proper "E Type" colour, but just go with what you like. I don't think originality of paintwork adds to value as such. Just my view.
