Hi, i am Chris from germany. I bought a 1963 FHC as a restauration project. The car was delivered to the USA and imported to Germany in 1990 standing most of the time in a garage after a small accident on the bonnet. I did not find a lot of rust until now, the plan is to strip it down completely to see where bodywork is neccesary. The bodywork will be the first step in my restoration because in this i have the lowest experience. But i am skille and willing to improve my competence.... The original colour is opalescent maroon.

Hi Chris

Welcome and good luck with your project. It looks like you've got a considerable amount of work on your hands.

:welcomewave: Chris and wishing you all courage and détermination for your projet.
Do not hesitate to ask all questions crossing your mind, friendly and helpful bunch of fellows around, and it is often preferable to ask than taking hasty decisions.
A nice colour you have, are you planning to keep it or tempted by a change ?

The decision of the colour is not made, I think i can take some time for this
Opalescent maroon is not bad but would not be my favorit. It will be in this colour if i come to the conclusion to keep it original...

If i take a free choise it will be gunmetal grey, racing green or dark blue

I am sure there will be thousands of questions i will ask...

It is also nice to have some german contacts here in the forum.

Goettingen, Sir.

There‘s a guy named Steidi in Paderborn though I think he‘s not online with a few E-Types and lots of parts (?), I also know a restorer in Bielefeld who works at Wincor (Iirc S2 coupe), and an Architect from Detmold with whom I do regularly work- but he has no E-Type, he helped creating the PS-Speicher, together with me and some other people.

Hi
Great project. I was starting from the same place 18 months ago as a novice and it's starting to come back together now - couldn't have made the progress I have without help from this forum. Make the most of it if you need to!

The best of luck Chris :salute:
