Hello,
Driving a Jaguar E-Type, as many people I have always dreamt of. A few weeks ago, I finally drove a 1967 E-type. Big mistake... I need one, I want one! I love the design. I heard it was a pleasure to drive. Now I realize it is so true. Since then, I look at the ads, but all cars are looking different in so many details... I am very happy having found your forum because I definitely need data, information and experiences in order to make my choice. I think I am in the right place. (and sorry for my poor English)

Thanks to all of you for your welcome.
For sure, I will have plenty of questions. And I already found some interesting information here.
Yves, this part of the dilemma is solved, I would like a FHC. A '68 (my age) would be great. But this is vanity...

Here is a 1966 car, 4.2 liter, that I found and coud be a good exemple to start learning. I didn't see the car yet. I just chat with the seller and got some data about the car. I would like to have your comments and answers to my questions. As questions come from an idiot, I may accept stupid answers

Do you think this rust is critical or can be repared without disassembing the whole car ?

About "cosmetics", Is it usual to have the antenna on the right rear wing? I saw several cars like this.

Is it usual to have the mirrors on the front wing and not on the door?

Hi Partick....impossible to say how far rust has traveled without a thorough inspection by someone who knows what they are looking for..Has the car had a recent respray to hide things....ideally post the vehicle details....chassis/engine number someone here may know it or look it up here.... http://www.xkedata.com/ not usual but also not unusual to have mirrors or aerial in position shown.....Steve

Thanks Steeve. I can't find this car in the web link you mentionned. Not suprised because it is a car initially sold in the north of Europe and lived there since then. You're right, I need to see her.

What about the small reservoir missing on the left, close to the inlet manifold?

Hi Patrick....fluid reservoirs.....i would expect to see 3 in that position but you never know whats been done till you inspect....also note the engine lifting eyes..oil filler cap.....ribbed cam covers...look like XJ6....is it an auto..i can see a dipstick.....so is it a relpacement engine?..Steve... Edit suggest you get this small booklet it is really good and packed with lots of info that will help you and its written by one if our regular forum contributers Peter Crespin

Thx for clarifying some points.
I saw the guide in another post, and I plan to buy. It has been recommanded many times in the Forum.
I will continue to dig.

I assume it's the beige 2+2, not the primrose FHC, in which case if it's an automatic that would account for there being only 2 reservoirs.

You're right Stuart. The beige is an automatic. Then the small missing reservoir is not missing in fact?
