#1 New Member From Seattle, WA
Hello everyone.
My name is Dan and I am new to this forum. I have been actively looking to buy my first XKE for the last 3 months and I realized that proper due diligence won't be complete without exposure to discussions involving experts, even just as an active listener. I hope I can find the guidance I am seeking and at some point give back to this community by sharing my own experience.
Thank you for letting me in!

Dan, welcome to the best place for all things E Type, advice, information and good humour.
Look for help and guidance from a truly knowledgeable person when you view any cars you are interested in. The JCNA can help as can the Jag Lovers website Steve has pointed you towards. Although you’re in the US, this is still about the best source of knowledge you could wish for.
Ask questions, don’t worry if they seem silly, we’ve all been there and learned from them.
Good hunting
Geoff

First of all, this forum is amazing! I purchased my first XTE and is being shipped form another state, it'll probably be another 10-15 days before it shows up. Until then I study as much as I can. I spend a couple of hours on the forum almost everyday. So much knowledge in here, makes your head spin! I feel like I am drinking from the firehose, but I think it's mostly because I don't have the car yet and I want to know about everything instead of gradually learning in the areas that I need the most. I already know there will be some work needed as soon as she arrives; Front suspension bushing is pretty much gone, tie end rods, and maybe a cosmetic switch of the soft top. I'll have questions and I'll share the experience for other newbies newer than me. Glad I found you people. This place is amazing. (I know, I already said that!)

Welcome to the Forum.
I bought my first E type from a Cardio Vascular surgeon in Port Townsend, so probably only a few miles away from you.
It was somewhat neglected but importantly it was rock solid and straight (un-crashed at some time in the past).
That meant I could get straight on with replacing the"consumables" in lightening speed and started using it soon after it touched down. IRS out, suspension bushes, calipers, discs pads master/slave cylinders, radiator, hoses all done.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9181&hilit=off+the+road
I must say it proved to be an excellent purchase and we have now completed thousands of miles together.
I have never had to take it off the road for more than a day or two and it has always been on the key.
Over the last 6 years all the main systems have been replaced/ upgraded except the wiring loom which unusually still looks brand new.
It has been running in its current spec. for 3 years, big valve head, map-able ignition, throttle bodies, 4 speed synchro, 2.88 rear diff. That lot makes it really sparkle on the road.
Post some pictures when you get it, good luck.

« Drinking from the firehose »
I think this is one of the best literary gems we have had for a while on the Forum.
Please keep it up.
