Hi people, I've just joined,
Image
This is our car which I purchased from E-Type UK in March, they named her Delilah. If you can't figure out why, don't apply for Pop Master on Radio 2. Its a 1973 and in amazing condition thanks to the dedication of the previous owners.
We will be coming to the 60th celebrations on Sunday in her.
I've just got a set of KONI shocks to do a little upgrade (I used to work for KONI in Holland till Covid hit). I'll be sharing the experience of fitting them and what the change is. Its really great to have a car which is so well supported by SNG Barretts and the other UK suppliers. I've just sold a 1935 20/25 Rolls Royce and 1930's Studebaker 53. You can still get parts for the Rolls, but they are really expensive and its a very complicated car, the Studebaker only had parts from the US if you were lucky, otherwise you had to make your own. Interested in meeting up with owners in Stafford/Shropshire areas, I've got a 4 poster lift in one of our sheds so pretty useful if you need to give your car a really good once over underneath.
See you Sunday, the weekend is looking great. :swerve:
Cheers
Paul

Welcome Paul. Delilah is a nice looking car.

Unfortunately, I can't make the 60th this weekend but hope to get my car on the road before the celebrations are over.

I'm based near Whitchurch so not too far from you, I'm guessing.

Regards

Paul, welcome to the best place for all things E Type, but not necessarily pop master  . It must be over ten years since I listened to radio 2 and I feel much better for it
However, back to important things, well done in getting what looks like a nice car. How big is your smile every time you drive or even look at your car?

We must twist your Koni arms to make as close to the Boge shocks NLA that are known to be good for S1 and S2.

Have fun and do ask questions as you’ll get lots of help and advice and occasionally some friendly banter.

Geoff

Thats a great looking car, I love it.

See you on Sunday, I will be in the S2. I have dusted her off, changed the oil and belts, adjusted the timing chain and given her a clean.

She is going like a Demon.

Welcome to a forum worthy of the car! Looks beautiful and you couldn’t have picked a better name! (Also guilty of the occasional Pop Master challenge)! Have just realised I’ve screwed up and arranged a family weekend! Have fun!

Welcome to E type ownership. Hope it is living up to your expectations.

Is it a 74 or am I one year out!

So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah, I just couldn't take anymore

Stuart - are you going to the MotorFest at Chetwynd Deer Park.
Its £4 if you take your car, needs to be there from before 10am to 4pm which is a slight downside.

Unfortunately (???) that day is our 40th wedding anniversary or it would be a good ride out. We have been before but not for a long time. The showground is pretty good, if my memory serves me well, with a raised area giving an amphitheatre feel to it.

Perhaps another time.

No worries. It’s also Father’s Day and the Eccelshall gardens open day. Just hope it’s a dry day. Hopefully we can meet up soon.

Wow, Paul. You're really pushing the boat out

You just need to get a series 2 to complete the set. Then maybe a set of coupes too. :drinkingcheers:

I did a bit, but that series 1 is so cool looking.
Both are likely to be at the Breakfast at the Brewery on Sunday the 15th August.
Mt Industrial Estate, The Old Brewery, Mount Rd, Stone ST15 8LL
Starts at 9am and you can get a bacon or egg roll and a cup of tea.
Normally lots of American cars and 60's /70's. Really great guys. Steve is the guy greeting people unless he's on holiday.

I'd add a picture but the file size is too large!

:banghead:

When you click on "add image", you can effectively reduce file size by specifying size

What's with the rivets (?) over the rear wings?

The rivets are to give it that prototype look.
And it did come from Historics Auction.
You either love it or hate it!

Can you get this forum to email you notifications?
Or does everybody check in every day?

Hi Paul

Welcome back. No offence meant but your comment has invited us to express opinions so here goes.

I neither love nor hate your Series 1. However, if you fitted Dunlop alloy wheels (either D Type or E Type) instead of the Minilites then it would move to the "love it" side for me. For my taste, those wheels just look too much like they belong on an American muscle car.

Anyway, its your car so your choice. Either way you still have a couple of great cars to enjoy!

Hi Stuart,
You must be pretty local to us, Bishops Offley.
I've got the red one in hundreds of pieces at the moment, engine and gearbox out.
What going to put in a 5 speed but its about 5 mm too long todo it without modification of the shell and I really don't want to do that.

So I'll have to rebuild the old 4 speed. :?:

NB: This forum engine is soo out of date, it could really do with a major upgrade.
