Dear All.
Having just purchased my dream car, I have allready encountered a problem i.e. I have what I believe to be a sticky starter motor, when turning the ignition key all I get is a loud clicking noise. I have the battery on an optimate charger, and the batter indicator is "green" both on the battery and the optimate. My question is this, does anyone know of a reliable mobile mechanic that could attend replace the starter motor and get the car running again? I live in Maidstone, Kent.
Thanks in advance, regards Keith.

Hi Keith, before you spend lots of money on getting a mechanic out to your car I think you should first check the battery leads and terminals to make sure all connections are tight. The battery may well be fully charged but it sounds like not enough power is getting to the starter motor.

It may be duff contacts in the solenoid. Replacement maybe the cure, after checking for good contacts on all cables including the earth strap from engine to chassis.

Before you spend any money, take a spanner and hand crank the engine round a few degrees.
