Hello Forum Members and thanks for letting me join.
I have owned my Series 3 Roadster since August 1992 and am undertaking a mechanical refurbishment of the brakes, clutch and suspension
The rear axle is done and back on and I am just about to take the engine and 'box out
As a heads up, I will be picking your brains about refurbishing the front suspension (especially the lower wishbone mounts)

Welcome from another Gloucestershire S3 owner. There were only 233 RHD OTS produced in 1974 before production ended in June, so yours sounds like a pretty late car. Not one of the last 50 black(-1) Commemorative Editions by any chance?

Mine was registered on 2nd November 74 but I suspect it was made much earlier
- it is 1s2007

Its colour is Heather which is not to everyone’s taste but good for the glam rock era!
- the colour has grown on me but I was more taken initially by the fact that it was Ziebarted!

So sorry (especially for me) that it isn’t one of the last 50!!

How many Series 3s in Gloucestershire?

1S2003 was produced on 3 July 1973 (xkedata) so your car was probably made the same or next day. A Heritage Certificate from Gaydon will tell you for sure if you are interested. Jaguar were really struggling to sell E Types by 1974 and delayed publically announcing the end of production until months after the last car was produced.

You may be interested to see that 1S2005 (in Lavender) was sold last year and wasn’t registered until August 1974 according to the ad. Details and photos are here https://themarket.bonhams.com/en/listin ... 5aa1c33140 .

I am sure there are more but I only know of three other S3s in Gloucestershire, the car produced immediately before mine being one. It felt rather surreal following it down the road thinking that it had been 50 years since they had last followed one another, leaving the production line, it going to Canada and mine to Texas.

I had guessed it was probably made in 73 and your info narrows it right down
- you have prompted me to do something I should have done ages ago; get a heritage certificate!

I have the ownership history so I can complete it to “Day 1”

I was aware that Jaguar struggled to sell the cars towards the tail end. Amazing really. I could never bring myself to buy an XJS so started my Jaguar life with XJs (a 12L then a 5.3C) both in Lavender.
- the XJ12L was a four Carb model so back to where I started (!)
