Hi everyone
In spite of being a member of the e type club since the off I have only just found you.
I bought my e type in 2001 as a restoration project and it is close to being finished.
All I have to do now is source and fit the interior, buy a set of wheels and tyres and fit a windscreen.
Anybody know where to get a trim kit from, how much to pay and what order is the interior fitted?
I dare say I will be asking loads more questions before the car is finished but I,m aware of the celebrations next year and intend being part of the action
Any advice please

I got the trim for my recent FHC rebuild from BAS in South Wales . The cost depends on exactly what you want but mine was about ? 2,200 in all from recollection. They are extremely helpful and I can recommend them highly. I had originally intended to trim mine myself, but in the end had it done professionally, at a cost of about ?3K, so cannot really help you with the order of fitment, but generally the scheme is
Headlining ( on FHC)
Wheelarches
Sills
Centre console
Harduras
Boot boards etc
but if you have a word with BAS they will no doubt be able to give broad guidance

Agree with Chris here. BAS will work with you if things go wrong which is the most important thing for me. I had them trim my consoles and seats then did the rest of the car myself - roadsters are pretty simple to trim.christopher storey wrote:I got the trim for my recent FHC rebuild from BAS in South Wales . What car do you have?

prior to trimming the car, I strongly urge you to soundproof and heat insulate the interior. A few of us have used this product with success http://www.koolmat.com/main.htm. THere are other products available.
I believe that you can make the FHC a really civilised car with this addition. If you decide not to, as a minimum insulate the gearbox tunnel as they do get hot inside!

Welcome to teh forum.
If you DO decide to do the retrim yourself - please post LOTS of pictures and words. Okay I am selfish but I will be doing the same work in 5 or so months so I will need all the help I can get....
Casual thought - I would not do the sills too early as logically you will be in and out of the car an awful lot fitting the trim so why risk scuffing the sill covers....

There is a logical way to trim the cars and the sills I think are pretty early on in the process as parts are covered by carpets.ChrisC wrote:Welcome to teh forum.

If you stripped the car the chances are you trimmed it in reverse. So some of the last bits would have been individual bits of vinyl you ripped off around the sides of wheel arches or the long thin bit stuck to the edge of the rear bulkhead at the top and a few other bare metal bits that could show between hardura panels and around the hatch and roof edges. On an OTS there are the bits behind the B post under the hood frame mountings etc.
The sills are pretty early but you can do them 'last of the early bits' - or at least the driver's one, as that's the one you use most. You can do it very late provided you don't glue the felt or other underlay or footwell harduras and B post trim panels down when you fit those, because you'll need to peel them back to stick the vinyl underneath. On the other hand as it's going to be used thousands of times in practice a few hundred extra in/outs won't hurt.
The rough order was given earlier but effectively you work 'inwards' from the body metal so the carpets are last; the harduras before the carpet; the vinyl before the harduras; the cant rails before the hardura; and roof lining before upper body trim etc. Very rough guide but I'm writing the rest up currently.
