New member and first time E Type owner 1E 50138

Hi all, I have become an E Type owner for the first time. I had wanted one since 1961 when, as an 11 year old, I saw one in a dealer in Woking on my way to school - at the time, my father was working in London for the Australian Government.
Just took 50 years for the dream to some true!
1E 50138 is a BRG Series 1, 2 + 2 with a recent history of ocean voyages. I first saw it in Classic and Sports Car advertised by Steve's British Connection in the US. They had bought it from Richard Buck of Jacksonville, Florida and sold it to Chapel End Cars in Nuneaton. Robert Johnson advertised it in C and SC the next month, and I bought it from him. It is now in Blairgowrie, Victoria. It had to be a 2 + 2 as I am 6' 4" and I don't seem to fit in a FHC.
While waiting for import approval I had a little body work done, a ding in the LH Door and a few small dents in the bonnet; and as No2 cylinder had a burnt valve, had the head reconditioned and HC pistons, rings, big ends replaced. Robert, who was very helpfull, also arranged a Heritage Certificate which indicates the major items on the car are as original, except the interior. Listed as being Suede Green in the HC it has been replaced with what is variously described as Tan or Biscuit.
The car arrived here in September last year, and I have spent some time and money getting it ready for the road. Mainly replacing the Master Cylinders; resetting ride height; replacing all rubber hoses, and engine and steering rack mounts, etc.
One of the key reason for buying this car was that the ads in C and SC claimed the vehicle had been "restored". I was pleased when I investigated the Chassis Number on XKData.com to find that this was in fact true - according to Coy's Auction notes in 2004 the car had been extensively (BP40,000) restored in 1997. The notes also mention an extensive History File, which I would love to track down. I would also love to find out more about previous owners and any other history of the car, if anyone has any idea of how to do that.
The car needs some more work done - particularly getting the doors to fit better. While the gaps around the doors seem fine, both sit a little proud at the trailing edge of the door. Hopefully, there might be some help on the Forum for getting this sorted. Then, there is the wind noise from the Webasto Sunroof! However, I just love the car and the fact that it is an E Type!

your car is listed in my 2006 yearbook, but no owner details, only details are English registration number was JNL 6D

What yearbook is that, please? That regisration number is still stuck on the bonnet but I have since registered the car in Victoria under our Historic Registration scheme. Cheers, Roger
