Hi everyone first time on a forum for me have owned the series 2 +2 FHC for 3 years now and done much work on it over those years an unrestored car in amazing condition.
I have purchased a rear window rubber seal and was wondering how to go about getting it replaced the Heated rear screen is all ok, can someone suggest where to go to get this changed as I have been informed that the glass may break when it comes out as it is not toughened. :D

Pete : absolutely no reason at all why the glass should break. If you prise off the chrome surround ( gently ) you will find that the glass is held in by the rubber seal with a triangular rubber insert in its centre as a locking strip. if you ease this out with a small screwdriver under one of its ends, then it is easy to remove the entire glass with blows from the flat of the hand from the inner surface of the glass. Be warned , however, that the weak spot of the heated screens is the wires at the point of entry so be very careful indeed not to apply too much of a bend to these. Replacement is the reverse of removal ......!!!!

Hi Christopher
Many thanks for that do you think it is worthwhile doing the job myself I was wondering about putting the rubber in with no special tools?

Suggest you buy the correct tool as they are realitively cheap compared to the heartache of scratched paint or broken glass.
