Hi all,
First post and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Ive always loved older cars and whilst growing up I always dreamt of owning a Corvette ( I have an '81, she is my 3rd ) but just recently on a local car cruise I got talking to the owner of a E type and I have to say I was quite taken with it.
In the Corvette world there are people who are highly in to stock, numbers matching type cars aswell as those that like to personalise them a little. I guess its the same with E types.
I know absolutely nothing about these cars so will be doing a lot of reading.
Is there a guide I can read so I know what to look for, common issues etc?
Also, where will I find all the numbers for the chassis, body, engine etc?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum!
The E-Type is one of those cars whose value seems undiminished by 'upgrades' and in fact such work can increase their price - see Eagle or E Type UK
Suggest you start by reading through our 'Knowledge Base' specifically this: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=890 You should also arm yourself with a few books before going to look at any cars and you will find this one particularly useful, especially as the author posts here regularly!

Also have a look at this site to see what is involved in restoring an E-Type: http://mossjaguar.com/in-the-workshop.html Angus is a Forum moderator and he knows more about E-Type's than just about anybody I know so if you find a car (or even before you go and look) give him a call and get his advice. If you want a restored car have a look at E Type UK by clicking on the banner top left and walk through their showroom. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like as there is a wealth of friendly advice available here.

I know where you're coming from re the Corvette clan or indeed anything US.
I had a 66 427 which I loved but these the Americans are hung up on originality, I have a 68 440 Charger which is pin point correct.
My Etypes are not however and all the better for it.
Where are you in Cornwall, I saw a lovely S1 cruise past a few weeks ago in St Ives.
