Another newbie here having just joined.

Not in possesion of an E-Type yet, but am continuing my search for;

V12
Manual
Matching numbers
Some history would be a bonus.
Not concours, but not a project either.

About 8 years ago I restored a 1948 Triumph Roadster. I was somewhat naive to restoration and I didn't have a clue how long it was going to take. Let alone cost. However, I did finish the project and promptly sold her to a very nice German chap from Cologne. Who drove the car back home!

I learnt a few things from my experience on the Triumph that I could use on an XKE over the years I hope to be in possession of one, with a bit of basic fettling here and there perhaps.

If anyone knows of a suitable motor then I'd be grateful to hear about it. Thank you

Don't get too hung up about the 'matching numbers' scam. The whole thing originated, validly, from American muscle cars where it was only possible to prove provenance by having those numbers otherwise people could make a run of the mill Mustang into one of the rare Boss 427's or whatever. But an E-Type is an E-Type so it really does not matter if the engine or gearbox aren't what it left the factory with. They are pretty much generic items anyway so better to focus on a rust free car and leave the 'matching numbers' to someone who wants to enter a concours. Unfortunately dealers have jumped on the 'matching numbers' bandwagon with a vengeance as though it confers some magical, and costly, attribute. Ignore it and find an honest car that you can play with.

Of course I left out some pertinent information on my requirements for a V12, in that I'm looking for a 2+2. Rot free!
