Hello I just registered for this forum and am excited to learn from the community of enthusiasts.

I have owned my 1964 FHC (880248) since 1970 purchasing it from the original owner upon return from a year long stint in South Vietnam. I had drooled over the E-Type since first sight and promised myself that if I got out in any condition to drive, I would own one. I looked at many, many used examples; some in decent condition and others needing a lot of work. I almost purchased a FHC with outside latches, but my wife didn't like the flat floor of all things and his asking price was at the top of my budget. I ended up buying the best I could find for $2500. It had a little less than 20,000 miles on it and was as delivered except for a re-spray and what the owner said was some detail work under the bonnet (the sub-frames and firewall were painted black, the car is cream with red interior). I drove the car from then until the fall of 1976 when I parked it for the severe winter in Michigan. It has been out a few times in the ensuing 38 years, but remains essentially as purchased with the Michelin narrow white walls the PO had installed. It is currently showing 39,800 miles. It needs painting and polishing and my notes from its last outing suggest a new water pump. My intent is to get "Grumpy" back on the road in the next year or so. No pictures yet, but hope to start sharing when the revival begins in earnest.

Welcome to the forum, Richard. I am sure that you will find this group to be friendly, knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise. I hope that before you do any more driving, that you replace those original Michelins with some new rubber. Even though they may still have plenty of tread left, they are undoubtedly dry rotted and you are risking a catastrophic failure if you drive on them.
