Hello community,
since about 8 years I restore my "US E-Type" S1 Coupe from 1963 (S/N 888752).
Almost all the work is done.
Especially I am going to complete the doors. The lock cylinder of the doors and the lock from the inside are working properly.
Only the keyless locking does not work.
1. I push the innterior doorhandle with opened door to the front. The lever is properly returned to the starting position.
2. I press the button from the outer handle and close the door.
When I close the door while holding the button it stays unlocked.
While the gear rotates during closing, the door unlocks by itself.
The lock cylinder has approximately 0.8mm play to the lever.
What I have done wrong. Where is the mistake.
Can someone please give me a tip!
------------------------------------------------------
KEYLESS LOCKING is obtainable by
first pushing the interior door handle fully
forward and allowing it to return to its
original position. If the door is now closed
from the outside with the push button of the
handle fully depressed the door will become
locked.
