I purchased a 1963 OTS for $1600 in 1972. I did drive it a few years but now it's been stored in a garage for decades. It's time to bring it back to life. I want to find some way to pressurize the oil system before turning the engine over. There was a problem with the rear brakes when parked. I recently bought 4 new rear cylinders from a eBay seller. There's 3 coats of paint, counting the original, and I may want to get it resprayed the correct color, but I can't justify the cost of stripping it down to metal. I just want to get it on the road again.

Dear John,
You can use one of those floor standing insecticide sprayers connected in place of the the oil pressure sender to fill the gallery with oil.

Take the plugs out, squirt some oil down the bores, remove a cam cover, and tow it slowly behind another car, in gear. Virtually zero loads and you will see very quickly whether the oil is getting up to the head. Once you are sure about that keep towing and check the oil pressure is present. Plugs back in and ALLEGEDLY bounce the SU piston-lifters a couple of times (more cod-science off the Internet ?) and away you go.
