Hi everyone..
Became the proud owner of a 1967 Series 1 2+2 last year. It is a great runner and has not seen a drop of rain since 1987 when it last had some major work. The interior is in great original condition. Body work looking tired..
I intend to run her over the summer and then embark on a restoration in September. A bare metal respray, engine and gearbox recondition, rechrome of the major bright works, new wheels and a general tidy up of the pots and pans in the engine bay. Suspension and brake upgrades will wait until later.
I have found and good local vintage Jag paint shop (specialising Jags and Rollers) and will send the engine down to VSE in South Wales. Does any one know of a good mechanic in the west London area who could take out and then put back the re-conditioned engine? Any advice on a good re-chromer?
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony
For my chrome work I have used Silvabronze over Farnham way, off the A31
http://www.beckworth.net
Ask for Russell, best to pop over there and talk face to face to get the best price
Would be interested to know your paint guys details as I will need that in the future, I live close to Guildford
Regards
Jonathan

Hi - welcome! I look forward to seeing you over the coming season now mine is (almost!!) back on the road - perhaps we'll see each other on the road somewhere in the mid-south! I've pm'd you re the mechanic and have used both Castle Chrome and Marque Restore for chrome - both in the midlands. Both as good as each other in their way - and each ha their frustrations too!
Welcome once again
