New owner introduction
#1 New owner introduction
Hi all
Last month I took delivery of a lovely 1969 OTS in Regency Red and officially became a big cat owner for the first time.
I knew there would be a few things to do, but closer inspection etc. has revealed the usual long list of PO bits and pieces to fix. Biggest one was the clutch failing, so have ended up getting the garage to take the engine out as one of the first jobs - a little earlier than I'd anticipated.
At least the list is getting shorter and in general it is in good condition.
I'm originally from the UK, but working and living in Switzerland at the moment and travelling back and forth to Austria. One of my goals was to drive a large number of the mountain passes here with the jaguar.
Anyway, that's me. Will get a few pics sorted out once it's out the garage (soon I hope as Swiss labour rates are enormous). Thanks for the assistance and advice from those that have helped so far, and I look forward to playing an active role amongst this merry band of fellows.

do you mean that the higher the garage costs are, the quicker it gets out of the workshop ?
not sure speed is the first virtue of the Swiss...

If you're worried about garage labour rates you can always drive to Norway, to be really shocked. :D
Typically we're at around ?80 per hour for mechanical stuff, around ?100 for bodywork and paint. :(
That's why I do all the work myself :D

But if their timekeeping is as good as the Swiss railways then it'll be ready at the exact minute they say!
Welcome to the forum, Mark, and enjoy those mountain passes.

standard rate is about 140 CHF / ?100 per hour for mechanicals - it will be cheaper to buy my own lift... if only I had the space
Also, doesn't guarantee it will get out the shop any quicker.... but hey... the clock is working

Welcome Mark!
have fun with your car. Try to get pictures of your bay with the engine out. They might come in handy later on, and hard to come by once the engine is mounted.

She looks super, and what do think you, Mark?
How many miles/km have you done? And how wide is your smile? Enjoy yourself.

Not many miles so far. I was at the testing station to validate it's road worthiness to get a number plate after importing it. The clutch promptly failed totally in the middle of the hall
As you probably know, that is an engine out job - which has led to a few "other jobs" being undertaken.
The smile is still massive though. I'd looked at other cars for similar money, and when it came down to it, the e-Type gave me a bigger smile than the F430.
