#1 New owner saying hello

Hi
My name is Mark and a few months ago I purchased a 65 series 1 4.2 FHC. I think the car was talked about on here. It was advertised on eBay in Norway. I brought it. It is back here in uk now and re registered after a lot of hassle with the DVLA! It needs a lot of work and some I've done already, and lots still needs doing. So I'm sure at some point down the road I be asking lots of silly questions so go easy on me.
When I work out how to I'll post some pictures

I use Flickr in which case I just grab the BBCode (which I truncate a bit).
Always interested to see pictures of new purchases and to hear stories of DVLA registration hassles.

Mark, welcome to the forum. Lots of friendly, helpful advice here and don't worry about any silly questions, we've all had to learn. I'm still a novice and couldn't have got on without the help from the forum.

Thank you. Registering it with DVLA was a real pain. Firstly after I sent all the documentation to them, they said they hadn't received it, only after I showed them they signed receipt did they then say they lost it all and I would have to get copies of all paperwork. I tried to get copies from the Norwegians to only be told as it was exported they would not do anything. Anyway after a lot of calls to DVLA the paperwork amazingly turned up!! But they wouldn't accept the heritage certificate etc as proof and I had to have car inspected. A very helpful Keith Vicent in club helped me out and eventual got the car it's original number plate back.

Great stuff, another Kent owner! Red E's never were my thing but I must say she looks tidy Mark. Did you have to change the front indicator lenses or were the UK spec ones good for Norway? Also, what's the circular thing on the tailgate just above the Jaguar and the 4.2 badges?

As far as I can uk spec lights but will look more closely now. It's a sticker that will come off as I work round the car. I'm concentrating on getting it running properly then I'll tidy body as I go. It was originally gold but has had a bad re spray to red.

Needed a fair of tlc
Carbs refurbished, new hoses, radiator, header tank leads etc. Hopefully will run better than before

The one I had on a P6 Rover didn't leak in 14 years of continuous use and it lived outdoors. If there is a hidden leak though I believe it can rot the wooden frame.

Nice car, looks even better now than in did on the Norwegian 'ebay' :D
I remember it well, it was just 20 minutes drive from me, but before I'd got myself out the front door, it was sold. Can't remember the timings precisely, but it was a matter of hours from the posting of the advert.
Lucky buyer. The price was exceptional. Sort of once-in-a-lifetime deal !
