The 'E' Type Forum

Hi,
My name is Paul.
Will you get the use from it? was the question my wife posed when I first ran the idea past her. However, having turned 50 and, having sold my GTR she new my boy racer days were coming to an end. She knew I had always hankered after an e-type so in reality I was given the nod without too much arm twisting.
So after much trawling as usual, I eventually took the plunge and purchased a very nice S1.5 OTS from CMC.
I almost missed on it. I had attended the London Classic Car Show a few weeks ago and the car was on the CMC stand with a sold sign on it so thought I had lost it but luckily a few days later it was back on the market and Nick G called to give me the good news.
I live 15 miles outside of Glasgow, the car was with its previous owner for 19yrs before it ended up with CMC. Guess where the previous owner lived?
Yes, just outside Glasgow!
I went down to CMC to see the car again before completing the purchase. The staff and premises are first rate and this provided all the reassurance I needed that I was buying from one of the best specialists out there.
Car is due to arrive any day now.

Some of you may have seen it advertised with CMC for the past few months but here's a reminder just in case.

Congratulations Paul! Beautiful car. The saying over here is "Drive it till the wheels fall off" but I don't think you have to worry about that. Enjoy.

Thanks Craig, will try my best but we do get a lot of rain falling on the west coast of Scotland! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for plenty of sunshine this summer :)

Seems your wife might well be right, 12k in the last 11 years!
I'm sure you will enjoy it more though, lovely car, and welcome Paul.

Colour is Light Blue which is a period correct Jag colour as far as I'm aware.

It will be out and about when ever possible but I cant see me racking up a huge mileage. Big part of the fun will be looking after it and just looking at it!

Paul,

Get your arch down to Bicester and never minded looking at it and cleaning it. If you don't drive it there is no point in having it. While these cars have a financial value, their main value is driving them and enjoying the experience.You can always clean them after the drive. Just my view and everybody to their own.

What? With driving roads to die for in Scotland? Of course you can drive the wheels off it!!☺

Welcome from the east coast where it rains a lot less. Very nice car you have there.
Now you've taken the leap why not come to a few shows this summer. There's Scottish Jaguar Day at Doune at the end of June. A large contingent of the Glasgow Area JEC go so you'd be in good company. They might press gang you into joining the club though.
Coincidentally a Glasgow JEC member had a show winning S2 OTS in the same colour. He sold it recently as well.

Not a coincidence I think it's the same car.

Hi Alan,
It is indeed the same S1.5 OTS. Car went all the way down to CMC to come all the back up!
I've been in touch with Jim (previous owner) quite a bit. He is Chairman of the Glasgow JEC. Lots of pictures of the car on the JEC website as it travelled with Jim to various meets etc.
Will certainly try to make it to a few events this summer.

That's a super car you've got your hands on there Paul - just been looking at your pics on Photobucket, but I had to turn away when the GTR photos showed up, lol! I've a big soft spot for pale coloured E's and was tempted by a pale blue S2 before we bought our (tatty by comparison) primrose S3.

Enjoy driving her, the looks and waves you'll receive from other motorists make owning an E a special experience.

Was out and about last Sun and experienced the thumbs up/ horn tooting first hand. There's no doubt these cars are loved.
Just for the driving experience, if there's anyone out there who has never driven a GTR please, if you get the opportunity go for it.
I have never driven a car that could do the things that machine could. The 0-60 in <3secs itself is a feeling that stays with you
After 2 yrs (and with licence still intact) it was time to come back to something more sensible.
