I'd like to introduce myself my names Phil and after about 12 months of looking I have finally found a car that I wanted and within my budget. It is a series 1.5 fhc, I picked it up on Friday and drove it home a total of 250 miles in heavy traffic a total of 5hrs. The car performed flawlessly as you can imagine I never took my eyes off the oil and temperature gauges but they never altered from normal the only thing that overheated was me. I didn't know about the flaps that open in the foot well until I got home. This sounds a bit brave driving the car so far on its first outing but I did have it checked out by Angus Moss first ( worth every penny for his expert report ) and I think this proved it.
The main thing I noticed on the car was driving it on the M25 without door mirrors was an absolute nightmare so any advice on which mirrors to by and were to get them from would be appreciated.

I've tried various mirror options but in the end I reckon the ones that clip onto your window frames are the best.

Thanks for the picture Mich. I think I'll buy the clamp type to get me going then I intend to join a club than I can have a good look at some owners cars with different mirrors on to see which I like for a permanent fix

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have a door mounted mirror on the driver's side, and it's about useless. For my height, I can't adjust it enough to see without craning my neck.Reckon the door mounted option is probably best, as it's nearer to you so you get a better field of vision.

I've had a thought thanks to the replies, I've got a 2inch square inspection mirror which I could get my wife to hold in varies mirror positions to find the best option for me while I'm sat in the car ( that's if she's in a good mood of course )

Ahh, so you will be making regular trips to see Ken Verity in Rotherham then! Good bloke, worth making his acquaintance.

Thanks for the info but I've not heard of Ken verity is he a specialist

Ken no longer advertises or has a web site because he is a one man band and constantly busy. He has a huge stock of spares and reproduction parts he makes himself so well worth a visit (by appointment). Reasonably local to me so I use him although maybe I should stop recommending him on the grounds he is too busy. Other place to consider is Paul Brown in Derbyshire.

Thanks for the info I'll get in touch as the I need some new seals for the head lamp covers Angus had commented on them leaking water in to the head light bowls, that's if I can get them off as several of the screws are just spinning
