Good morning All.

New to forum, live in North Gloucestershire. Near Prescott Hill climb.

Just setting out on the journey to acquire one of these beautiful cars. Will review posts to make sure select the right car for me.

Think S3 as over 6ft tall and believe a more comfortable ride. Also S2 and S3 in my price range. Would like RHD, but think will have to get LHD import as cheaper. Checking forums for conversion cost and advice. As car for me rather than put in garage and watch value rise and want to enjoy driving around Cotswolds.

Simon, welcome to the forum. A good trawl of the knowledge base and other posts will help you decide what you can get and afford.
As everyone will tell you, look for rust free as bodywork is the most time consuming and expensive part of restoration.
Lots of helpful and friendly people onboard and you may find one or two who could look at cars/auctions with you to advise.

Simon, I'm also over 6ft, which is why I got the model I did. You don't necessarily have to get a series 3; the series 2, 2+2 is 2 inches higher than the coupes and OTSs, so gives you the extra headroom needed.

Thx for warm welcome. Think will be either S2 or S3, but need to sit in it, make sure I fit. Shoehorn myself into wifes GTV but want to be more comfortable. Also keen on manual, beyond that No rust and we should be good to go.

All 2+2s have the higher roofline. However the seats in the S1 have no headrests.

If anyone local to Cheltenham, I would welcome the chance to have a good look over an E-type and also welcome advice on the gotcha areas to watch out for.

Having owned a S2 OTS for six months I would say don't discount it beaause of height, I am six foot tall and have issues with the height of the screen. When the top is up it's a bit of a struggle to bend my head under the hood but I manage it.

However, when the sun is out and the top is down it's the best car I know. I've been lucky to drive many specal cars but nothing will put a smile on yours (and everyone you pass) face than a nice open e-type
