Hello together,

I just signed up to this forum, my name is Orn, of Icelandic nationality living in Luxembourg.

My passion for vintage cars started off with a Mini Cooper, a Mercedes Pagoda and now since a couple of months also an E Type Series 2 FHC. I feel that I will frequently be looking for hints and support with maintenance works on this car, life will not get boring with it. Right now I am challenged by corroded long cylinder head studs and a rear main oil sealing conversion kit ...

Anyway I would like to start off with compliments on this forum. This looks like one of the best structured and exhaustive sources for information and experience on E Type Jags.

Welcome to the forum. I'd do some research on other people's success or otherwise of rear crank oil seal conversions if you haven't installed one already.

There's nothing at all wrong with the standard rope seal, it just needs to be fitted properly. Plus, it gets blamed for all kinds of other leaks t5hat are nothing to do with it. If the front of the flywheel isn't covered in oil, the seal isn't leaking and any oil is coming from somewhere else.
