Hi All...just heard that Edd is leaving whealer dealers......he has a video clip explaining why if anyone wants to look or can post it here..basically the UK production company was taken over by a US firm...who found the workshop side of the show too difficult so they wanted to reduce the amount of time on it.....this being Eds domain he was not happy with the corner cutting so has left.....he has announced that Ant Anstead will take his place...

It is interesting to read the Wikipedia page for Edd (it's on wiki so it must be true  ) that his MOT business went bankrupt in 2016 with debts of over £600,000. Maybe too much time playing the TV showman and not enough being a businessman? Feel sorry for those owed money.

Too bad. My favorite guy on my favorite car show. WheelerDealers left out the "reality" that the other shows feel compelled to concoct.

Ill give the new format a chance, but Edd's account of the producers heartburn doesn't bode well.

I never saw Wheeler Dealers but my favorite car show was "A Car is Reborn" with Mark Evans. It ran on Friday nights and although it wasn't a "how to" that gave all of the info one would need to restore an E, it did show the complete strip down and how to do the job the right way, including lead loading. It was a nice way to unwind with a cold one after a week's work. It ran before I got my E type and I wish that the networks would re-run it because I think that I would appreciate it a lot more now that I've done a fair amount of resto on my car over the past few years.

Mark,

You can find it on youtube with swedish subtitles or buy the DVD from amazon or ebay which I did.

He made a lot more like that, he built a cobra, a plane....

Yeah, Carsten, our local station carried the plane and a helicopter. I've watched some of the Youtube reruns, but the ones that I've found seem to be incomplete and I'd much rather watch shows on my high def TV than a computer screen. I always found Evans' shows informative and entertaining with just enough schmaltz thrown in to attract a wider audience. Much better content than the recently run Grand Tour series by our old friends Clarson, Hammond and May.

I really enjoyed when they built an AC Cobra replica, I've always dreamed of having one. The strangest part is that Evans is apparently a VET originally :scratchheadyellow:

Yes, I thought about building one on XJ6 parts. But in total it's too costly and Felix is not that interested, and I habe still the E-Type and a DS23 to restore so for about 5 years there's no time frame. Maybe then.
