Hi Steve,
An Alloy body was an option and homologated in period, just saying. In fact to be absolutely correct, the steel body was the option. I know that wasn't really the case but that was accepted by the FIA.
Alloy diff and gearbox casings were tried by the factory, I accept they never made production though.

Steve,
If you buy the latest Classic Jaguar magazine, my V12 is the featured car, and tells the complete story of the car and it’s restoration. There was also an article of the car at the beginning of the year in the E-type Club Magazine. However, to answer your question, Eagle fitted AP Racing 4 pot brakes with vented and grooved disks. They also fitted a set of Ohlins springs and dampers and a quick rack steering. They have also replaced several parts which needed to be improved, such as drive shafts, bushes, trailing arms, master cylinders, hoses, gearbox mounting bush, electric fan thermostat switch. They service the car annually, which is carried out to an extensive check list. It is worth noting that Eagle will only sell cars that have been restored by them, cars restored by people they respect (mine was C & M Wilkinson) or very original non restored cars. Their service facility and the opportunity to buy and have fitted any of their improved and modified parts are only open to those who buy a car from Eagle. They must be the only E-type specialist who are able to do that. Their hourly rates are reasonable too.
Cheers Barry

With regards to Eagle homologation: the easiest way to answer your questions is to ring Eagle and get the answer! One thing is for sure, registration of each car will have been carried out legally.

Hi Barry...Have just spoken to Eagle re the Light weight recreation.......They told me they take an original 3.8 E type and then use this as the basis to build their lightweight.....replaceing and changing whatever is needed to build the car to the customers spec........the completed car retains the identity of the originla E type.....The vehicle is then inspected by DVLA and as of yet they have had no problems registering the car.....However they have nothing in writing from DVLA to confirm that this is acceptable for all builds and each one will have to be inspected...This does go against everything thats on the DVLA website regarding registering a rebuilt vehicle.....Steve
