#1 Dash Camera recommendations.

Any recommendations on current dash camera products. Simpler the better and preferably transfer from one vehicle to another.

I use a "nextbase" dash cam. Just plug into cigarette socket and go. Fixes well to screen, and easy to just switch from car to car. Fun when you plug into your home PC and watch your trip!

Be aware the Police can use what is on your dashcam as evidence which might not necessarily be to your advantage. If you are going to use one remember to stick strictly to all speed limits and follow the Highway Code.

A few years ago I had to advise Pete Crespin to remove a video of his spirited drive through the English countryside in his D-Type as it showed his speed compared to the posted speed limts. Great fun to watch the white knuckle drive but he would probably still be in prison if the old Bill had reviewed the footage!

This is true. Before I let my hair down a bit, I just switch off. It is nice however to know that most of the time, if someone does something silly, you can prove it.

Hi Malcolm, Any particular Nextbase model as there are a few different types.

Mine is the 412GW. 1440P HD recording, so good film. Can load 128GB Micro SD cards - some dashcams a little restricted in this I believe.

I use a Tom Tom Sat Nav with built in Camera. Works OK with decent picture quality.

Garmin 65W for me. Magnetic mounting base is perfect for moving between cars. Easy install, I also installed aux power module that provides adjustable power supply after parking up and ignition removed.

What exactly are you trying to achieve with a Dashcam? Retribution, self preservation, blame or do you want to be a Cop?

If everyone had a dashcam and fed the video to the Police we would all be guilty of some minor infraction. Dangerous stuff!
