Hi Chaps!
I am getting repeated problems with rodents chewing the fuel line on my Series 3 Land Rover. It runs from tank (in the rear) to engine mounted pump, a run of around 8ft or so. Can anybody suggest a rodent resistant fuel line that might stop the little beggers from chomping down on it? I would prefer not to have to convert it to copper/nickel because it becomes a bigger job and there isn't really room to get a stainless steel braided pipe in.
Regards

Stuart, is there space to slide some stainless steel cable sleeving over the pipe? Shouldn’t add much to the diameter but might do the job.

Honda in Canada sold a hot pepper infused tape that one could wrap around the wiring.
Might be an option?

You could try fitting a distraction product. I had a mouse find it’s way into the glove box on my Disco and devouring a chocolate bar. It made no attempt to eat any of my fuel lines or wiring when faced with the tasty alternative

Thanks for the tips.
The tape sound like a good idea but I first need to repair/replace what I have.
If I replace the full run then I'll probably try to over-sleeve it as Geoff suggests. It would be tight to get a stainless steel sleeve over the pipe in a couple of places but I think a woven glass-fibre sleeve might work - the type that is used in cookers to shield the wiring from the very high temperatures generated by hot plates.
I'll investigate the tapes further but I wonder what an MOT tester might think of a tape-wrapped fuel line.
The little critters are very fond of chocolate. We hung chocolate Christmas figures on our tree one year and returned home after spending Christmas away to find the empty foil wrappers still hanging from the branches.

I forgot to update this thread too.
I replaced the entire run of the fuel line with stainless steel over-braided fuel hose. So far, no further problems.
Selling the Landie now, though.
