The 'E' Type Forum

I've mentioned before in various threads that one of my regular outings in the E-Type is to go and see my Dad. In some years this has accounted for 2,500 miles of my annual mileage.

Alas, no more. Dad died yesterday, peacefully. He was 98 years and 9 days old. I won’t mind if I last that long.

Sorry to hear that Chris but as you say 98 isn't bad. Still sad though.

Deepest sympathies, Chris. It hurts to lose your dad at any age, mine left us 2 weeks short of his 70th birthday. 18 years on and I think about him every day. I even ask him if I can borrow his tools, even though they now reside in my garage.

You can always use the E Type to visit him at his place of rest and tell him how it's running.

I’ll leave with this recent memory from taking Dad to visit a Steam Fair. We got back into the E, a process which required help from others when his knees gave up walking across the carpark. It was a hot day in July and the cabin was roasting.

“Is there any air conditioning in this thing?”

“Wind the window down and I’ll pick up some speed.”

“Harrumph!”
