Use It Or Store It

Dear All,
I was wandering what most of you do with with your car over the 4 months of Winter. Is it better or do you use it every couple of weeks or keep it stored well till the Spring. Love to hear your years of experience to a new comer.

Paul, it is always better to use the car rather than store it. However, in the UK, the local authorities put salt on the roads whenever there is a frost - strongly recommend not to use your car then!

Thks for the quick reply, what interval do you do if conditions ok & for how long.

Paul, everyone has their own ideas on this. If I can, I use my car once a week at least. Failing that, start the car up, and warm it thoroughly (dont rev it hard). I then put it in gear and move it backwards and forwards a few feet (just to make sure the clutch isn't seized). Operate the handbrake just to ensure the cable isn't stuck and press the brake pedal a few times.

Sounds the best thing to do, I still have alternator problems, I found the brush connector was glued & faulty a real mess. I ordered a New one in Uk should get it in 2 weeks. Have a nice New Year

Today I could not resist in spite of a slight drizle. Took of the sexy cover & opened the door, what a welcome smell of leather & Etype smell. Pushed it out gave it a couple of spurts & fired quickly after standing for a couple of weeks. After waiting 15 mins went for a 45 mins spin arount the country roads just fantastic slightly foggy & English looking. Just Loved it.

Well done Paul, excellent start for the year !

I am doing the same as mentionned by Angus during the winter.
Today I started the engine , moved forward /backward in the garage and 2m in the still snowed garden (15cm) and as we have salty roads over here, I still have to wait for the first drive in 2011.

But I enjoyed this first engine start in 2011, so I can imagine how you felt while driving, well done !

You Know sometimes I wonder why I spent as much or whatever guilty feeling you get :D but today I know.
